Erotica called Pornography...I have to disagree and Erotica can't seem to grow...

No problem finding my blog voice after I read an article recently that while the Vampire is the new Alpha male in Romance, Which I’ll agree to, because Vamps are just hot.

I have to disagree with what was said about erotica.

“You give a group of romance writers a couple of drinks and they’ll admit it’s pornography,”

I’m sorry, I don’t agree with this at all, and while it’s my opinion against someone who’s been in the business for quiet a long time, I have to say...

First off, I don’t see erotica as pornography. There’s quite a difference there, especially with the emotional aspects of it all.

Secondly, does that mean that any passionate thing done in the bedroom (or where ever) with your man or woman is considered pornography, because you’re enjoying it?

Well Hell then, maybe it is. Call me porn what ever person, because I can’t just lay there, okay you get on top, and 1, 2, 3, it’s done. Hmmmm NO!
I like the feeling of the Big O to much.

The article also stated that.

“It’s hard to see it as true romance, and it has a limited audience—they can’t seem to grow it.”
*raspberring you*
I’m sorry I don’t believe that either. Erotica’s been apart of this world since humans started having sex. And if it’s not growing…then why in the hell are the big boys in publishing like Harlequin, opening a Spice line, and now an e-spice line for e-books? Because it is growing, it’s what the readers want. If Harlequin’s marketing research didn’t see a profit in it for them, they never would have even thought about that line of Romance.
It’s not all about behind closed doors anymore, I think it’s about, people wanting to read about what they do with their partner, or what they fantasize about.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the sweet, and sensual, but I also love the erotic. Because it’s real, just a bit more detailed, and I’m not my grandmother.

Heck, even my grandmother expects Romance to have some sex in it, and she reads it. Although she will say if it goes on to long (to many pages or to detailed), she’ll just skip ahead a bit. But she knows it’s there, because people have sex. YES, I’ve talked to her about this, and I’ve told her NO, I won’t let her read certain books of mine, because I know she won’t like them. I know spank my hand, I told my grandmother no, but she knows, that I know, what she likes to read. I am the one who *Cough* handed her a Harlequin, and said hey read this. *Grins*

So my question to all of you…what do you think?

NOW off topic a bit *Rubbing hands together gleefully*

I found out yesterday that my book A Slave’s Way Out, is the

2007 BEST SELLING TORRID TITLE OF THE YEAR

at Whiskey Creek Press!!!!!!

How excitingly awesome is that!!!!! WOOT!!!! I’m jumping off my chair, doing a jig, Woooooo-Hoooooo!!!!!

Find Me A Home For My Book

First off I want to share with you the official poster for the Chasing RT Video Tour that I shall be hosting from the convention. Isn't it amazing.

A wonderful friend of mine named Jambrea had made the poster just for the tour.

It's been a long and crazy week for me and many fellow authors. That's why this weeks topic will have to do with publishing and finding a home for books.

When I first started to look into publishing my work and finding a home for my stories I will admit that I was a bit lost. I had no idea where to look or how to start. What I did was grab some of my favorite books off my book shelf and I looked inside the book to see what company put the book out. That got me started on a journey that is still going on and hopefully will go on for a very very long time.

If you search you will find out that there are many publishing houses out there for consideration. Each place specializes in their own type of books. They cater to the many readers out there.

The more time that goes by you learn about all the publishing houses that are out there and what they are looking for. Things you should avoid and things that are big No No's.

You also find out from fellow authors what publishers are the place to be and what places to stay away from. Sometimes it's confusing to find the best place for your book.

For the authors out there I'm curious to know

What do you look for when you are searching for a publisher? Do you have a personal list that the house must meet before you send them your work? Do you talk to other authors who are at that specific house?

For the readers, do you like it when your favorite authors are at one publishing house?

I know that there are some authors who find that one house and they stick to it. They only submit to that one place because they know what the house is like and they love it there.

My outlook for this time around when it comes to sending out my work is look at more then one place. Spread my work out and see what's out there...

It's been a bit slow this week with writing and looking for places to send out my books since the RT convention is only 16 days away. So many things to do and get ready before the big event. I do have a few things out right now with a few different places. I count the days and wait until I hear something back.

Does anyone else count days?

I wish you all a wonderful weekend. Mine shall be filled with making 500 goodie bags for the convention.

WARNING: LAUGHTER AHEAD!!!

dirty

Warning Warning!!!! Do not read this blog if you don't like dirty jokes! Cause that's all this post is about. Dirty jokes!

I love a good joke. The raunchier the better. So I've posted a few here today. Hope it gives you a laugh or at least a smile to get you through the day. Keep in mind these are not as bad as some I could have posted. I'll be doing that later today or tomorrow on my Sex n' Sass Blog. Enjoy!

A guy dies while making love to his wife. A few days later the undertaker calls her and says, "Your husband still has a hard-on, what shall I do with it?" The wife replies, "Cut it off and shove it up his ass!" The undertaker does as he’s told. On the day of the funeral the wife visits her husband for the last time and sees a tear rolling down his cheek, so she whispers in his ear, "It fucking hurts doesn't it!"

Three men go on vacation together up in the mountains. When they get there the find there is only one hotel and when the go in the desk clerk informs them there is only one room available with only one bed. They aren’t too happy about it, but they have no choice so they take the room for one evening and share its only bed.
That night, they all enjoy a good night's sleep. In the morning, the guy on the right side of the bed says,
"I dreamt I had the best wank last night."
The guy on the left side says,
"That's funny, I had the exact same dream!".
The guy in the middle says, "I dreamt I was skiing."

Two 90 year olds had been dating for a while, when the man told the woman, "Well, tonight's the night we have sex!" And so they did. As they are lying in bed afterward, the man thinks to himself, "My God, if I’d known she was a virgin, I would have been much more gentle with her!" And the woman was thinking to herself, "My God, if I’d known the old geezer could actually get it up, I would have taken off my panty hose!"

Dirty Job

A man and his wife return to their honeymoon site for their 25th anniversary. As the couple reflected on their magical wedding night 25 years ago, the wife asked the husband: "When you first saw my naked body in front of you, what was going through your mind?" The husband replied: "All I wanted to do was to fuck your brains out, and suck your tits dry."
Then, as the wife undressed, she asked: "What are you thinking now?" He replied: "It looks like I did a pretty good job."

A man who just got a raise decides to buy a new scope for his rifle. He goes to a rifle shop, and asks the clerk to show him a scope. The clerk takes out a scope, and says to the man, "This scope is so good, you can see my house all the way up on that hill." The man takes a look through the scope, and starts laughing. "What's so funny?" asks the clerk.
"I see a naked man and a naked woman running around in the house." the man replies.
The clerk grabs the scope from the man, and looks at his house. Then he hands two bullets to the man and says, "Here are two bullets, I'll give you this scope for nothing if you take these two bullets, shoot my wife's head off and shoot the guy's dick off." The man takes another look through the scope and says, "You know what? I think I can do that with one shot!"

This couple had been dating for about six months, but the guy had been afraid to make any sexual advances because of his tiny organ. Finally one night, he gets up his courage, and takes her to a secluded spot in his car. While they are kissing, he opens his zipper and guides her hand onto his penis. "No thanks," the girl says. "You know I don't smoke."
Steve is shopping for a new motorcycle. He finally finds one for a great price, but it's missing a seal, so whenever it rains he has to smear vaseline over the spot where the seal should be. Anyway, his girlfriend is having him over for dinner to meet her parents. He drives his new bike to her house, where she is outside waiting for him. "No matter what happens at dinner tonight, don't say a word." She tells him, "Our family had a fight a few days ago about doing dishes. We haven't done any since, but the first person to speak at dinner has to do them." Steve sits down for dinner and it is just how she described it. Dishes are piled up to the ceiling in the kitchen, and nobody is saying a word. So Steve decides to have a little fun. He grabs his girlfriend, throws her on the table and has sex with her in front of her parents. His girlfriend is a little flustered, her dad is obviously livid, and her mom horrified when he sits back down, but no one says a word. A few minutes later he grabs her mom, throws her on the table and does a repeat performance. Now his girlfriend is furious, her dad is boiling, and her mother is a little happier. But still there is complete silence at the table. All of a sudden there is a loud clap of thunder, and it starts to rain. Steve remembers his motorcycle. He jumps up and grabs his jar of vaseline. Upon witnessing this, his girlfriend's father backs away from the table and screams, "OKAY, ENOUGH ALREADY, I'LL DO THE FUCKING DISHES"
A man is in a hotel lobby. He wants to ask the clerk a question. As he turns to go to the front desk, he accidentally bumps into a woman beside him and as he does, his elbow goes into her breast.
They are both quite startled. The man turns to her and says, "Ma'am, if your heart is as soft as your breast, I know you'll forgive me."
She replies, "If your penis is as hard as your elbow, I'm in room 436."

A woman walks into a drugstore and asks the pharmacist if he sells size extra large condoms.
He replies, "Yes we do. Would you like to buy some?"
She responds, "No, but do you mind if I wait around here until someone does?

Two young lovers go up to the mountains for a romantic winter vacation. When they get there, the guy goes out to chop some wood. When he gets back, he says, "Honey, my hands are freezing!"
She says, "Well, put them here between my thighs and that will warm them up."
After lunch he goes back out to chop some more wood and comes back and says again, "Man! my hands are really freezing!"
She says again, "Well, put them here between my thighs and warm them up." He does, and again that warms him up.
After dinner, he goes out one more time to chop some wood to get them through the night. When he returns, he says again, "Honey, my hands are really, really freezing!"
She looks at him and says, "For crying out loud, don't your ears ever get cold?"

Edit till your blue in the face

I wanted to start off my post by wishing you all a very safe and Happy Easter.

For this weeks topic I wanted to talk to you about change. How much stories change from the first draft to the final copy.

I am one of those authors that does much editing. I want my story to be polished and as clean as possible before it goes out for consideration to a publishing house. I know that once it's sold there will be more edits even if they are minor but my hard work cuts down on how much.

I'm the type of person who wants it right and not half right...Before I got my laptop I use to edit the old fashion way. Print out the story and use a red pen to mark it up, over and over.

Editing can be good for you and sometimes yes it can be bad. You can over edit the story and sometimes it looses its spark.

We as authors are our worst critic because we will read our work over and over and still want to make changes. We have to know when to say STOP. There is so much you can do to a story and after a while and reading it a gazillion times you can't see what needs to be changed anymore.

You become too attached to the story...

I wanted to know from the authors, when it comes to edits, how much do you edit your work?

For the readers, what do you think when you hear author's saying they never edit their work? Does that influence how much you will want to read their work?

This week I wanted to share with you a snippet of my current work in progress called Risking It All. It's a paranormal vampire novel. This is the first draft of the book. In the future once it's done I will post what the finished product looks like. There may or may not be any changes, who knows.

What do you think of Risking It All so far?

June 8th 2025
My name is Tayana. I’m the first and only daughter of Andreas Demoro, the most respected man in the city. My father is our leader, the one man who has control of our world.

As I lay here I can’t help but wonder how many times have people wished that they had a different life? Wanted to start over, be someone else, even if for only one day. Ever since I was born, my life was held in someone else’s hands. Can you imagine being born into a world where you have no freedom, someone is watching you every moment of the day. Imagine being born into a world where you are in the middle of a war, a battle that you can’t stop or sometimes have no more energy to fight.

Since the day I was born I've only known, power, no freedom and the need to survive. I was born into no average family. There was no white picket fence where I live, only high tech security gates, and bodyguards. My family has power, money and everything one could ask for. But to me that is nothing.

For I’m suppose to be a creature of the night. I’m half immortal. Nobody outside our kind can ever know I exist or I will die.

I had no control over what I did or wanted to do but now the time has come for me to set my own fate. Follow my own destination. I have to reason with my father. Try to make him understand. I don’t want to live the life he’s planned for me. I want to live my own life. I want freedom that I have never known.

Tayana heard the knock on the door and quickly shut her journal and hid it under the floor boards. Her secret hiding place since she was a little girl.

“Tayana, Jenny is waiting for you downstairs” said the voice from behind the door.

“I’m coming, give me a moment,” she replied before she took one final glance at the floorboard and headed for the door.

M/M Eye Candy!

Today, I wanted to show off my newest HOT cover. Feral Intensity is the third book in the Faldron Shifters Series but it doesn’t release until September 5th. I couldn’t wait to show off the cover though. If you haven’t guessed by looking at it, this is a m/m erotic romance. This is my first m/m story but it won’t be my last. They Both Belong To Me has m/m loving but it is a m/m/f story.

Anyway, getting to the reason for this post, other than to show off my cover!
I want to know what you think about man on man lovin’ in books.
Love it?
Hate it?

I started reading m/m books about a year or so ago and I have to say I love them. Still love m/f & m/m/f books too but m/m books are hot. At least, I think so. Which is why I’ve been inspired to write a few.

The funniest thing about writing m/m books is the reaction you get. My straight male friends do not understand why I would write books about gay men. They ask, why would women be interested in reading about two gay men? Duh?

Of course, I always remind them that men love to watch f/f porn. They all get that sheepish look on their faces. Then, they try to convince me that’s it’s natural for women to touch each other but not men.

I wonder if they ever watch football as see the players slap each other on the ass! Just a thought.

Okay, I’m done rambling.

Let me know what you think of m/m stories.

The Ambassador's Daughter is now in print!

I'm so excited! My best selling sci-fi spanking romance The Ambassador's Daughter is now in print!

Sparks fly in this sci-fi spanking romance when an interplanetary ambassador’s spoiled, impetuous daughter, Inarii Kal’yle, finally meets her match in the form of her new, no-nonsense bodyguard, the handsome Rand Barany. An expert in the field of personal protection, Rand has a reputation for getting the job done, and has no patience for his charge’s blatant disregard for the rules.

Threats abound around the beautiful socialite, but are they from her father’s enemies or the obsessed stalker who has unknowingly been tracking her? Rand doesn’t know or care; his job is to keep her safe. But how can he do that when she takes a perverse sort of pleasure in slipping away from him every chance she gets? Finally, he has no choice but to do what he’s wanted to do since their first meeting – he drags he over his knee and spanks her. Outraged, she runs to her father, thinking that he will dismiss her brute of a bodyguard. But her father surprises her by siding with Rand, telling her that it’s no more than she deserves. Then, as if that weren’t enough, he practically gives Rand permission to spank her whenever the man sees fit!

But when the threats becomes all too real and they’re on the run for their lives, Inarii has no choice but to depend on Rand. Even then, her nature won’t allow her to follow his orders, and he’s forced to spank her repeatedly - for her own good, according to him. And though she may fight Rand every step of the way, it doesn’t keep her from falling for the big brute!

Excerpt

Chane Kal’yle was a tall, lean man with graying hair and an uncommonly deep voice when he spoke, and when Rand entered the study, the man immediately offered his hand in welcome. It was an old custom, still done on Earth, where Rand was originally from, and as Chane Kal’yle was from the planet Deuntaie, Rand appreciated the gesture.

"Mr. Barany, please sit,” the ambassador said, gesturing to the chairs in front of his desk.

Rand did as he was bid, and when they were both seated, it was Ambassador Kal’yle who spoke.“I must say, your resume is very impressive, Mr. Barany, for someone as young as you are,” he said, reading aloud as he scanned the holo-screen on his desk. “You completed your law degree along with a minor in civil administration in only two years, graduating with top honors. You graduated top of your class at the CP Academy, and then you were with civil protection for four years where you received many commendations for your performance. You were promoted to investigator after only three years. Then you worked with a private protection company for two years before going out on your own.” He turned his gaze on Rand. “You’ve protected quite a few prominent people, Mr. Barany, and all of them speak very highly of you.”

Rand inclined his head. “Thank you, Mr. Ambassador,” he said. He and Chane Kal’yle had already spoken earlier in the day, so he knew that he was being hired to protect the ambassador’s daughter. What he didn’t know was why he was being hired. “I’m very flattered that you asked me to come in, Mr. Ambassador, and I'm certainly interested in the job, but I also can’t help being a little curious as to why you would need me when you have your own security.”

Ambassador Kal’yle was silent for a moment before answering. “I’m going to be honest with you, Mr. Barany. My own security is not top of the line; they simply come with the position. But in recent months, the threats I’ve been receiving have become much more serious. I’m involved in several bills and agendas that have made me very unpopular with a few groups within our federated planets’ population. If it were just me, I would not be too concerned, but my daughter has been mentioned in some of the threats, and I am concerned that they will go after her to get to me. My daughter is very headstrong and my security team simply cannot keep up with her. She has gotten very good at eluding them to go where she pleases.” He frowned. “Just last night, she slipped away from her guard to go to some nightclub, and ended up getting arrested when protectors raided the place. That guard has since been dismissed, of course.” He leveled his gaze at Rand. “My daughter needs a bodyguard that she can’t bully and slip away from, Mr. Barany. Someone who will protect her from herself as well as others.”

It sounded more like the ambassador’s daughter needed a good spanking, Rand thought to himself, silently wondering if it had been wise to take on this job. It sounded like this girl was going to be a major pain in the ass. He had agreed to this job simply because protecting an ambassador’s family would be the crowning jewel on his resume, and would ensure that his current one-man company would grow in the future.

So, Rand nodded. “I’ll do whatever is necessary to make sure that she behaves herself, and to keep her safe.”

Chane Kal’yle nodded, apparently satisfied. “I suppose I should introduce you to my daughter, then.” Sitting back, he spoke to the house computer. “Mirlene, please ask Inarii to come to my study.”

“Of course, Ambassador,” the pleasant female voice answered.

A few minutes later, the door to the study opened and Inarii came into the room. Her father rose to his feet and Rand did the same, turning as he did so, only to find his resolve threatening to weaken at the sight of the ambassador’s beautiful daughter.

Though Inarii’s father was Deuntaien, her mother was of Earthen descent, and the combination was exotic looking. She was tall and slender like her father, but with just the right amount of womanly curves in all the right places. Courtesy of her Deuntaien heritage, her eyes were the clearest green he’d ever seen, and her full lips, as ridiculously clichĂ©d as it sounded, looked like they’d been made for a man’s kisses. He had obviously seen many holos of her over the years, but none of them did justice to her actual beauty. She was truly stunning.

Rand felt himself suddenly grow hard as he thought about what else she could do with that mouth, and swore under his breath. He was here to protect the ambassador’s daughter. Keep her in line when necessary. Nothing more.

“Allow me to present my daughter, Inarii,” the ambassador said. “Inarii, this is Rand Barany. I’ve hired him to be your new bodyguard.”

“Bodyguard...?” Her voice trailed off, and Rand saw her frown. “But Father, we already have plenty of guards.”

Chane Kal’yle gave his daughter an indulgent smile. “Guards who have other responsibilities. Mr. Barany’s only job will be to protect you, something he specializes in.” He gave her a pointed look. “He goes wherever you go, Inarii,” he said, and Rand thought that the man actually seemed to enjoy saying that to her.

Inarii’s eyes widened and took on a look of something close to panic as they darted to Rand, before her gaze went back to the ambassador. “But Father...”

"Inarii, I’ve made up my mind on this. You will accept Mr. Barany as your personal bodyguard. If not, I will send you home to Deuntaie, where I’m sure you’ll be safe.”

Her mouth fell open, but no words came out.

“I’ll let you and Mr. Barany get acquainted, shall I?” her father said, coming around the desk and making his way to the door.Inarii watched him leave the room, staring at the closed door for a moment. She was dressed in the Deuntaien style, the gown sleeveless and belted criss-cross style around her middle to show off her slim waist, and the silky material skimmed over the tops of her sandal-covered feet as she whirled around to face Rand Barany.

She didn’t think she’d ever seen a more handsome man. He was tall and broad shouldered with dark hair, strong, angular features, and a wide, generous mouth. He was, if truth were told, just the type of man she was attracted to, though a bit older than the type she normally went for. But she didn’t need another bodyguard, especially one that followed her everywhere she went, no matter how handsome he was. The sooner she made that clear to him, the better.

“My father is confused, Mr. Barany,” she said stiffly. “He exaggerates the threat against us. Your services would be a waste of time. As I said, we have quite a few guards in our employment, and I truly doubt that we need another. I’m sure that your services could be put to better use elsewhere.”

Rand's smile was tight. “Your father seems to have a completely different opinion,” he said. “But don’t worry, I’ll make this as easy on you as possible. You won’t even notice me.”

Inarii doubted that.“Your father is only concerned about you,” he continued.“My father is overprotective,” she countered. “If it were up to him, I would never leave the house.”

If it were up to Rand, she’d never leave his bed, he thought, and swore under his breath again. What the hell was wrong with him? It wasn’t like he’d never seen a beautiful woman before.

Inarii tossed her long, auburn hair over her shoulder and lifted her chin. “Well, if you insist on working for me, then there’s something you should know. I don’t tolerate insolence of any kind. Contrary to what my father thinks, I need my privacy, and I won’t have you following me around everywhere I go.”

Rand clenched his jaw at the imperious tone in her voice. “First of all, I don’t work for you, Ms. Kal’yle, I work for your father, and second of all, there’s something you should know about me. I don’t tolerate insolence, either. When I tell you to do something, it’s for your own safety, so you do it without question. I’m your bodyguard, which means that I’m at your side at all times, so there will be no sneaking off to go shopping at the market, or to go dancing at some nightclub, or to meet a lover for some secret rendezvous, or do whatever it is that you do when you sneak off. Unlike your other guards, I won’t put up with your antics.”

Inarii stared at Rand Barany, wondering where her father had found such an insufferable man, and just how much her father had told him about her? “How dare you...?”

Rand folded his arms across his chest. “Oh, I dare, Ms. Kal’yle. I’m not just your bodyguard, apparently I’m also your babysitter, so I fully expect you to behave yourself and do as I tell you. Do I make myself clear?”

Inarii felt herself blush at the words. “I’m not a child, Mr. Barany, to be ordered around!” she told him hotly.

“Then behave yourself and I won’t treat you like one. Then we’ll get along like two reasonable adults.” He glanced at his watch. “Now, if you’ll excuse me...”

She stared at Rand Barany’s retreating back, her pulse racing, her breathing ragged, and a warmth that she didn’t want to put a name to spreading through her. If she didn’t know better, she’d think she was attracted to the man. Which was absolutely absurd, of course! Rand Barany was rude and arrogant. He probably never even went to a school of higher education, much less read a book. He was not at all the type of man she would be attracted to. She frowned at that – just minutes ago, she was telling herself that he was exactly the type of man she would be attracted to. But that was before she learned what an ass he was.

Inarii took a deep breath and let it out slowly, smoothing her gown with her hands, trying to calm herself. Getting poor Oland fired had taught her something, at least. All she had to do was make this Rand Barany look like an incompetent imbecile, and her father would have no choice but to fire him. She just had to make it seem like it was Rand’s fault, so that her father wouldn’t follow through on his threat to send her back to their home planet. A threat that she doubted he would follow through on anyway. At that point, she could either convince her father that she didn’t need a bodyguard, or she would keep going through them until there were none left that were willing to work for her father. One thing was for sure; this Rand Barany was not going to get the better of her!

IS THERE SHAME IN SEX?

Eve's apple

I didn't have a clue as to what I was going to blog about today. I was so busy yesterday polishing a manuscript that all thoughts of anything else were simply a blur. I usually plan my blogs, but just haven't had time.

So I pulled up The Nice n' Naughty Blog this morning and realized I had forgotten to comment to C.A. Salo's blog of yesterday. Slap me now, please! So I read her blog and commented. And a few things she said made me think. About sex. Well of course, I always think about sex. lol

C.A. was talking about writing and how sex sells. Yes it does. But she also touched on another favorite topic of mine. The shame of sex. Yes. Some people are ashamed of their sexuality. You know that.

We've talked about people who find out what we write and how they react. We've talked about the fact that writers use pseudonyms. But those pseudonyms are even more important for someone who writes erotica or erotic romance.

There are authors who use different pseudonyms to separate the sexier stuff from the sweeter stuff. Some authors are fearful of a backlash from readers if they find out they are writing the hot hot stuff as well as the sweet. Not to mention the fact they are concerned about embarrassing family and friends.

I'm in a position in my life in which I don't have the need to be as concerned as some authors. But I can certainly understand the concern. I use a pseudonym to protect my privacy basically. And because we do run a certain risk in writing what we write. There are lots of people out there who read what we write and form certain opinions of us. It can even be a bit dangerous for us to use our real names. And I don't think there is a need to explain why.

Sex is very powerful. It influences every part of our lives. The world revolves around it. We are creatures of it. So why are we so effing afraid of it?

Nothing effects us as deeply as sex. The physical sensations are overwhelming. The emotional implications can make us the happiest people on earth or destroy us. Sex creates life.

Pretty powerful stuff. Will there ever be a time in which we become comfortable with our sexuality. I doubt it. Even in the Garden of Eden there were questions.

Recently I read a poem about Lilith, who was supposedly the first woman created by God. It is said that Lilith embraced her sexuality and power as a woman immediately and when Adam refused her desire and need to be his equal she walked out of the
Garden. And then God made Eve. And still the forbidden fruit was placed in the Garden.

I suppose we could argue the theological aspects forever, but the point is~~without sex there would be no life. It's not something to be ashamed of. To be kept private, yes. I don't advocate coffee houses with Friday night orgies. lol...but I do think we all need to loosen up a bit.

So what do you authors think about using a pseudonym to protect your privacy and how people perceive you as a person? And what do you readers think of authors who write all heat levels~~the simply sweet and the exotic erotic. Is it okay for an author to cross over and use one pseudonym or should the author separate the two?

Happy St. Patrick's Day to all. Don't forget The Midnight Seductions Authors are having a St. Patrick's Day Party today. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MidnightSeductions

Happy St. Patricks Day

And tomorrow is Tasty Tuesday. And you know what that means. Paige and her babes! lol

Sex...does it help sell the book or not?

We all know sex sells. Or at least that’s what they say.

Is Erotica so popular in Romance now because people wanted something more than just the peck on the lips as they moved into the bedroom and close the door? (I know I did)

Don’t get me wrong, I write the sweet stuff my grandmother can read, and then there’s the Erotic one’s *Grins*.

We all know that Erotica has been around since the age of time and humans started getting it on. It’s just more…mmm…accepted or okay to say now. Are those the words I’m looking for?

Is that just the American side of things?
Look at the Karma Sutra, how old is that thing?

I’m not saying that everyone should read erotica, especially anyone under 18, hey you can wait. *Pointing finger at all 17 year olds, who should not be reading this blog* it’s all a matter of what someone likes to read.
But come on. If I went into a bedroom with a man and all he wanted was the missionary position and 1, 2, 3, it was done…I’d have an effin’ heart attack. *Pulling hair out by the roots* BORING!!

Sex should be fun, passionate, playful, and rewarding on both sides, *cough* (Yeah that’s what he groaned last night) *Grins* Shhhhh, LOL, and that’s what I like to write about.

Do you think people are loosening up more, and want to read about it like they do it? *Giggles, she said ‘do it’*

Or is it that some people are coming to realize, I say some, because a lot aren’t there yet, that diversity is what makes us interesting? That we don’t have to follow along, just because that’s what we should do, that we can be ourselves as consenting adults.

Do you say…
I’m an adult, I know what I want. I’m sorry if you don’t like that, but I can’t make everyone happy.

*SNORT* Yeah right.

Actually it would come out something like this…
I’m 36 years old, I’ll do what I want. ‘So piss off, would be added when dealing with family or friends’.

*Shrugging shoulders* what can I say…I’m me.
WOOT!!

Paranormanl.........Far out there

When you hear paranormal you think vampires, ware wolves and all the stuff that goes bump in the night.

The paranormal genre is very popular in the writing world right now. It always has been and for the most part always will be. People will always want to read about vampires and shifters . There are so many different spins you can do with the paranormal genre.

I myself have always been a lover of the genre, vampires are my thing....I was wondering are there paranormal creatures that have not been written about and you would love to write or read about?

The paranormal genre is starting to change, authors are writing about more and more different things. It's not just vampires and ware wolves. It's becoming a variety of animals and creatures that were not seen in books before.

With time the paranormal genre is evolving and changing.

What are some of your favorite paranormal creatures to read about? What is your favorite paranormal book and why?

One of my favorite paranormal series is by Sherrilyn Kenyon, her Dark Hunter books. She is one author that I always look forward to reading. She takes you into a world you really love, you fall for the characters and want to read more and more.

Those are the types of books you don't want to put down. Those are books that are amazing to me.

All I know is I'm never going to get tired of the paranormal genre, especially vampires.

Keeping a routine

Hi all,

Woke up this morning to rain, which is better than the 12 inches of snow we had a week ago. However, I’m ready for spring. I’m worried though when the weather gets nice that I’ll struggle keeping to a routine. Monday will official mark four weeks since I became a full time, stay at home writer.

At first, it was difficult to stay in front of the computer and write. There were to many distractions…laundry…dishes. Now, that I’ve moved my office upstairs, things are flowing better.

In four weeks, I’ve finished two manuscripts. However. they are short stories. The first one is approximately 14k and the second less than 6k. Still I don’t think that’s too bad considering during that time I had my daughter home with the flu. We had snow days and shoveling days and I also moved my office. But, there is still room for improvement and I can’t let spring and summer distract me.

Any advice for working at home and keeping to a schedule?

releases March 15th!!

I'm very excited to say this baby will be available March 15th through All Romance Ebooks.

Blurb:
Lori Fontaine is still angry that her ex-fiancé has declared her frigid. Ever the good girl, she's more than ready to toss caution to the wind and liven up her sex life. She's determined to prove that she can be just as passionate as the next woman. Lori gets her chance when she meets hunky sculptor Gideon Adrian. He's wild, demanding, and everything she normally steers clear of. So, of course he's perfect!

Gideon's enhanced mental abilities have made his erotic statues a huge success. Being able to tap into the secret desires of his models has been one hell of an advantage. But when he meets Lori, he's drawn to her like no one else. On the surface, she's a prim and proper high school principal, but underneath, she's a naughty temptress. Gideon aches to open Lori up to the enticing world of sexual pleasures, but what will she do when she learns that he's been tuned into her every thought?

Excerpt:
He could hear her every thought. She was driving him mad, and he didn't even know her name. That would change, he'd see to it. He wanted to know every tiny thing about her.

All Gideon had to do now was find her, which was a joke because he didn't have a clue what she looked like. For all he knew she was some old woman with weathered skin and a face like his first grade teacher, Ms. Frasier. Behind her back, all the kids had called her Old Lady Stoneface because she’d sported a permanent scowl. He always wondered why she’d become a schoolteacher. She should have been a drill sergeant.

As he strolled around the room, Gideon constantly scanned the crowd for the one woman whose naughty thoughts had him tied in knots. In his soul, he knew he’d recognize her the instant he spotted her. It was only a matter of time. He planned to make her every erotic fantasy come to life.

In the normal scheme of things, Gideon hated large crowds. He steered clear of anything larger than fifty people. Considering the party was in his honor, he’d been compelled to at least make an appearance, even though his heart just wasn’t in it. It hadn’t been for a long time. He was bored with his work, bored with his house, bored to hell and back with life. Coming to the party was supposed to be a refreshing change of pace.

Another of her thoughts flitted through his mind and Gideon groaned. If she didn’t stop thinking about sex, he was going to go insane. Her mind kept conjuring up different scenarios, and he desperately wanted to be the man starring in them.

Anticipation lanced through him. It’d been so long since he’d been excited about anything, much less a woman. Gideon was tired of being alone. No one knew lonely the way he did. Hell, if he could be in a room with over two hundred people, all of them sipping wine, chatting with friends, flirting outrageously, and still feel alone, he knew there was no hope for him.

Most of his friends and associates knew he preferred solitude to parties and crowds. But he knew the woman was unlike any of these people. She was not in her element. Gideon knew because she kept thinking herself inadequate. A fish out of water, were her exact thoughts. She wanted nothing more than to leave and just forget the whole stupid idea. Gideon idly wondered exactly what the whole idea entailed. There was an urgency about her, and he had a feeling she was trying to find a gracious way to escape. But he wouldn't let her. She wasn’t getting away from him. He knew her every desire, her every wish, and for some damn reason, she intrigued the hell out of him.

Gideon vowed she wouldn't leave the party without him.

He walked over to the bar and ordered a beer. When he turned around and lazily leaned against the sturdy oak, his eyes roamed cunningly around the room once more. Then he spotted her. He knew it was her, and she didn’t look a damn thing like Mrs. Frasier. Christ, she was perfect. Every man's fantasy. His fantasy. This woman was the very definition of voluptuous temptation.
Gideon had been with women of all shapes and sizes. He'd seen the starving models naked. He'd seen the girl-next-door scream his name in ecstasy. He'd even seen the straight-as-a-pin ones beg to be fucked. But none compared. And she was still fully clothed. A minor detail he'd rectify soon.

She wore a black dress, and Gideon didn't have to read the label to know it was silk. He could see by the way the dress moved with her, as if pleased as punch to be covering such soft skin. The front was scoop-necked and hugged her figure beautifully. God, she was gorgeous. Why did she think she lacked appeal? From his vantage point, it seemed she had every curve and valley just where they ought to be. Her breasts alone could make a man whimper. Large, round, juicy tits he wanted to lick and suck. They filled out the top half of the dress, creating a nice amount of cleavage. He'd never given any one particular body part much thought before. He liked every inch of the female form. Now he was definitely a breast man.

He pulled his gaze away from her chest; getting a hard-on in the middle of a crowded room was not part of the plan he turned around to grab his beer. He needed to cool off. Cool off and slow down, or he’d embarrass them both.

He turned back to the woman who had his libido in overdrive and allowed his eyes to travel the length of her. When he reached her legs, he had to stifle a groan of pleasure. Though she wasn't supermodel tall, she still had legs that would wrap nicely around even his huge body. Sweetly displayed in a pair of black pumps, her legs were sexy and strong and lean. Just right for what he had in mind. For what she had in mind. Naughty girl thoughts ran around in her head. Gideon smiled as he pushed away from the bar. He couldn't wait to make those thoughts come to life.
For a second, Gideon felt the tiniest bit guilty for reading her mind. It was an invasion of privacy, and usually he kept strict to his code of honor. But with her, rules went out the window. There were no holds barred. He had to have her. Simple as that.

His steps faltered the closer he got. She was even more beautiful up close with her oval face and honey-blonde hair. Honey that dribbled down past her shoulders, held securely in place by a metal clip. He wanted to see her hair hanging loose, spilling down her back. Then Gideon noticed she was staring right back. When she smiled, his heart sped up.

Christ, he was a goner.

A Reader Who Loves Romance

***Note: Barb Ledbetter is an avid reader of romance and most of us know her from group chats. She is one of the most supportive romance readers I've met on line. I thought it would be fun to give a reader a turn at blogging about this subject we all love so much. ROMANCE WRITING AND READING.

barb 1

Hi! My name is Barb Ledbetter and I am a passionate reader of romance novels. Tess basically begged me to write this blog and I really couldn’t say no. lol Not being much of a writer, I don’t know how this is going to turn out so bear with me. Being raised on an Ohio farm and the baby of 5 children, whose brothers and sisters are much older than me, I escaped into reading to fill my time on the farm when I wasn’t working. I began reading romance at probably age 13 or 14 and my favorite author then was Rosemary Rogers. Now I enjoy a large variety of genre’s and authors (too many to name). In my spare time when not reading, I’m a wife, mother and in the process of raising two of my three grandchildren. A great pastime of mine is spending time in front of the computer on various yahoo groups, myspace, and helping another author edit her books.
I thought I’d take Tess’s time today and chat about the reasons I enjoy romance novels. Personally I am a woman in love with love. Reading romance novels is one of my ways of finding it. I love seeing two people fall in love and get their happily ever after. I love seeing the guy get the girl (or the girl get the guy) and the adventures and stories they go through to achieve their ever after. If your daily life is anything like mine, then romance novels can offer you the chance to escape into a romantic adventure for a short while. After reading I come back to my real life refreshed and ready to tackle the most difficult challenges.
While reading I let myself fantasize and I become someone else. I am the lady who is being chased by the dashing duke all around London or the woman being protected by the bodyguard. A good heroine is strong without being harsh, intelligent and attractive, but also can be vulnerable (not weak) and emotionally accessible. If they are too much of a whiny cry baby, I have no use for them. I don’t want a heroine who swoons at the drop of a hat. She better be someone I would be interested in spending time with and someone I can admire. A heroine can still be swept away but only on her own terms and with a male who wants an equal relationship. In other words, the heroine should be someone I want to see myself as being.
Now, just the fact there is an alpha hero in romance novels is enough for me. I like them tall, dark, somewhat mysterious, but they need to have a vulnerable edge too. If he doesn’t have that vulnerability, he won’t have a place for the heroine in his life or his heart. My hero needs to be strong but not overbearing and as intelligent, ethical, and as capable as the heroine is. He is fascinating, good-looking and of course good in bed. A hero has to be a man that the heroine and I can fall in love with.
Romance novels are my way to peek into many kinds of love lives. A good romance that takes me into the story emotionally and makes me cry or laugh is the best. I want to get emotionally involved in the story. Yes. Romance novels can be predictable but they are fun. In today’s world, I know there is always a place where I can escape to where the women are always beautiful, the men always strong and the ending always happy.
Thanks for letting me share my thoughts and I’ve enjoyed meeting all the wonderful authors on the various yahoo loops and myspace. You have given me new romances to escape into.

Thanks Barb! Great insight from a reader. And don't forget...tomorrow is Tasty Tuesday and Paige Tyler will give us another hunk!

The First Kiss

Whether it’s sweet and sensual or hot and erotic, the first kiss is always memorable, in life, and in the characters authors weave together.

The emotions of that first kiss alone are enough to set the mood, the scene, and what’s coming next.

The shadows of the mess hall shielded us, my breath held as his lips touched mine, my fingers lifted to count the five second kiss he promised, as my eyes fluttered open, nervously glancing around to make sure no one was watching. My fingers going to number ten, I pulled away looking at him as our friends laughter neared. “That was more than five seconds.”
His smile devastatingly handsome as he leaned in, his lips brushing mine one more time. “I know.”
*Giggles* Thank you M~ *Blowing kisses your way*

Well, there you have it. My first kiss, with an older boy I might add, at summer camp. ‘Shhh don’t tell my dad’, Hahahaha LOL.

What was your first kiss? Was it with you significant other?
Was it nervous, hot, sweet?

Book Reviews.....

When my first book Bid For Love came out I couldn't wait to get my first book review. I was nervous and excited to see how others would see my book.

I knew that it could go either way. I could get a good review or the person could hate my book. It was the opinion of one person.

When my first review came in I got a perfect five and like any other person I was thrilled. My book was getting received well and I was ready for more.

I know that reviews will not always be perfect but all you can do is add that to being an experience in your career and go forward.

I have seen books that I loved get horrible reviews and some books that I had not enjoyed as much get rave reviews.

I have stopped paying attention to reviews of books before I even have the chance to pick the book and read it. I don't want some one's opinion to stop me from reading what could be a wonderful book.

I wanted to ask you...

How much do reviews influence your choice in reading a book?

If you read a bad review will you not even give the book a chance?

I have learned that reviews are only one persons opinion and they can differ from what I might think. I will judge the book when I read it. My taste in book is not the same as someone else.

Inspiration!

Yesterday, I blogged about inspiration on the Thursday Thirteen on my site. Of course, that inspiration was 13 HOT pictures of men. Today, I was wondering what keeps you inspired to write or at least to write a particular story.

I usually have several WIP's going on at one time. This week I worked on a story for three days and only managed to write 3000 words that I kept. I set it aside to write on another story and beat that total in one day.

The first story is an erotic romance, sci-fi and the second is vampire erotica. Why did one inspire me while the other didn't? I don't really have an explanation for it. I just know that some times a certain story isn't flowing while another one is.

I hear other writes talk about this so I know it's not just me. So, what keeps you inspired?

And, so you don't think I'm a tease. Here's a little inspiration to jump-start your morning.

I'm working on a story I'm calling Double or Nothing, so I thought I'd give you double trouble.

Enjoy,
Laura

Things That Make Me Say WTF?

In the news this week:
Best Selling Holocaust Book Is a Hoax! Misha Defonseca’s book, Misha:A Memoir of The Holocaust Years was supposedly the story of her life as a Jewish child and how she had lived
And traveled 1900 miles through Europe with a pack of wolves in search of her deported parents during WWII. Well sorry folks, but those who bought the book and saw the movie should have
Known better. I mean…WTF? ….a kid traveling with a pack of wolves. Looks like somebody still believes in the tooth fairy too! The publisher deserves to eat this one.

“Sex Week At Yale”. Ok…WTF is that? Some big debate between a reformed pornography producer and Ron Jeremy. Now we all know who Ron Jeremy is don’t we? Porn star for the past 30 years. Yep, we really want this guy to take a position don’t we? Did I say position? Oh hell,
Anyway the basic topic of discussion was “to porn or not to porn”. The only surprise I got out of this other than the fact Yale has a sex week, was the claim that the porn industry earned $14 billion a year and employed more than 100,000 people. WTF? Does anyone besides me think that is kind of low?

JFK Love Child? Ok. This guy who looks a little bit like Kennedy has a Mom with a screw loose apparently. The true biological father of the so called “love child” in question died of a genetic illness and when this “love child” questioned his mother as to whether or not he might need testing for fear of passing the marker on to his own children, she dropped the bombshell that he was JFK’s son. Turned out to be a complete lie. Vanity Fair Magazine got into the mix when this
“love child” pretender had the former attorney for the Watergate burglars contact them and offer an exclusive. The kicker is this…he even said that if paternity tests proved he was indeed the son of JFK he would move back to the U.S. (presently living in the Netherlands where he is a successful investment banker), change his name to Kennedy, name his own unborn son JFK III and run for public office. WTF? Even if he had turned out to be JFK’s son would we want this type of individual in public office? Just forget the fact he had known only one father for 45 years. Let’s just jump on the bandwagon ‘cause our genetic markers indicate we can be PREZ!

And Rosie O’Donnell is plotting yet another return to tv. Supposedly she will star in a sitcom with “The Nanny”, Fran Drescher. Ok. How many times will Rosie come back? WTF? She keeps walking away. If I were a tv exec, I wouldn’t sign her. You never know what is going to happen next. And that might be a good thing if you could somewhat control her.

And would someone please tell me why Oprah Winfrey, Rob Reiner, Chuck Norris, George Clooney, and now Jack Nicholson should tell me who to vote for? Jack has now got a video out supporting his candidate. Ok. He plays some crazy kick ass colonel in A Few Good Men and now he is an expert on foreign policy and the military. WTF? Sorry, but I know who I am voting for and none of the Hollywood bunch influenced me whatsoever.

There are a lot of things that make me go WTF? How about you? Tomorrow is Tasty Tuesday and Paige Tyler will post a hawt hawt hunk for us to drool over.

Till next time.

Reality & Chaos - How does it affect your writing

Good morning. Sorry to everyone out there for me posting a bit later than usual. Let's just say busy night. LOL.

“I reject your reality and substitute my own.” As quoted by Adam on Mythbusters, I have to agree.

I think that’s why I love writing fiction so much. Because I can in all sense, substitute the reality of what we call life, and manipulate it to what ever I want, projecting my own thoughts, ideas and whims into a fantastical world of…ME. *insert diabolical laughter here, Grins*.

My thinking can be a “total chaotic state of mind.” And I LOVE it!!

When one delves into the fiction world, be it Romance, Sci-fi, Crimes…you can fictionize it to your hearts content, and to my thinking, as long as it’s believable, even Fantasy, and I can add sub-genre into that category of the romance I write, from paranormal to sci-fi, to contemporary or what ever my reality wants to do at that time.

Do I wish I had a magic wand, or the powers to change things? WELL, duh, of course I do, LOL. Who wouldn’t? But then again, it’s not just whether you could, but should you? And if you did, what would the ramifications of that change be.

Even though I’m a relatively quiet person, chaos has invaded my life this week. Someone check on the alignment of the planets for me would you, LOL. *snort* no seriously. All I have to say is…Thank God for my color coded calendar! Woot!! *Pointing finger with one eye closed, the other giving the eye*

The chaos though, has put a few good ideas in my head for a couple of books. *Grins*. What can I say…AUTHOR, Hahahahaha, I never know where inspiration’s going to hit. Now if I can find the time to get them out of my head and onto the computer, I’d be in business, LOL.

How does chaos affect you? Do you take lemons and make lemonade?

Do you like the shift of reality, into fiction? What books, or authors bring you out of your everyday reality and into theirs with out you realizing it until you’re done the book?

And the most important of all…

Do you like this guy, and his friends… WOOT!!!! LOL, Love the chaos!!! Blow it up, blow it up, Hahahahahahha.

Have a great day everyone!!!!

Stop...take a break...

So I just came back from a three day virtual vacation. If you think I went somewhere, all I will say is I wish I had...

I took 3 days off from the Internet world. Being a published author and a writer I have spent many month on doing promo event's, working on my web site, contributing to yahoo loops and writing books amongst other things.

Trying to balance the life of an author and your private life is not easy.
Something people don't realize is how much work is put into books. It's not just wham bam thank you mama the book is done and released and one can sit back.

Authors spend huge mounts of time trying to get the word out on the books they have had put out. Get their names out there so people know who they are. Some days you spend most of the day in front of a computer.

I had been trying to take some time away from my computer for a while but kept putting it off. Then friends kicked my butt and I caved in. I posted that I was going away and I stopped answering emails, doing promo and all other computer things.

I had to take time to get my muse re charged and ready to rumble. I needed to take a moment to breathe.

Doing this made me think, authors are workaholics. We work because we love what we do. But do we know how to stop and take some time to relax?

Coming back today I returned to an inbox with about 3000 emails or more and all this work to catch up on. Yes you might think, that is not what you want to come back to after being away. But it is OK.

I also came back to many comments from other writers who said they wish they could do what I did. Take a breather.

They can....

So what stops us from it. For me the delay was all the work I had. But when you think about it, the work was there before and the work will still be there when you come back.

There will always be work.

We all have to take the time to think about ourselves. We need to sleep and rest. Relax so that we can think and focus on the stories we are to write. Or be able to focus on whatever job we are to do.

When you are sick or exhausted and have not slept much you can't focus. That is when the creativity suffers and we get even more frustrated then we already are.

I want to know, have you taken time to relax and regenerate or are you a workaholic?

If you have taken away time, what have you done?
