Venturing Out

So I decided to venture out into the world. Doing what? I opened up a shop on my official web site. At the moment I am only selling hand crafted bookmarks. Soon I hope to have key chains, rings and much much more up....

I figured it would be a wonderful idea since I write books... These bookmarks are made from cotton floss and come in all different lengths and colors...They take between 4-6hr to complete, sometimes more. It depends on the length or thickness..
The key chains and rings will also be made from cotton floss...

I have received a lot of great feedback on the bookmarks and people like what they see. They are not your regular paper style bookmarks...

If you're curious how I find the time to hand craft them and write...I'm good at multi tasking....Plus it's something I enjoy doing....

If you wish to check out my store go to http://savannahchase.com/shop/

Wishing you all a great weekend

Boys will be boys

Yesterday, I was reminded of a nature show I watched a few days ago. The show was about a species of birds which species I don’t know. Anyhow, the male of the species strutted and danced to attract the female of the species.

Why was I reminded of this?

I took my daughter and some friends to a public pool for the afternoon. While they sunbathed, I relaxed in the shade with a good book. It didn’t take long until a group of boys tried to get their attention. The strutting was a little different. I involved diving, splashing and trying to be cool. However, the intent was the same. I was rather amused.

Initially, the girls pretended to ignore the boys. Then, they giggled while openly admiring their suitors. Shortly after that, the boys moved closer and began to mingle with my girls!

Luckily, the whole process had taken a couple of hours and I’d finished my book. It was time to go. Sorry boys! Not this time.

Anyway, it was a simple reminder that boys/men of any species have some similar traits. And, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Btw, the girls were pretty miffed at me.

It's gonna be a long summer!

Restraint

Hi All,

My friend and fellow author, Mila Ramos is blogging for me today. I'm taking the day off. So sit back and read what she has to say. I love the title. lol

Kisses,
Tess

Restraint:
Main Entry: re•strain
Pronunciation: ri-'strAn
Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Middle English restraynen, from Middle French restraindre, from Latin restringere to restrain, restrict, from re- + stringere to bind tight -- more at STRAIN
Date: 14th century
1 a : to prevent from doing, exhibiting, or expressing something
________________________________________
"Oh dear almighty that is above me give me restraint!"
These were the words nearly escaping my lips tonight. Let me tell you restraint is an interesting word for that truly means choking the hound of hormones back.

Wondering why restraint is the word for today? Come back with me to today. And let me tell you get ready for a fun and interesting ride.

FADE TO THIS AFTERNOON
________________________________________
So there I am, writing outside in the beautiful sun trying to figure out what is the big deal about trying make the tension and the passion flare in a book. Evil little characters.

But heck I have to do it, its my book, I have to understand it. But before I understand it, I'm going to move my car. Amazing how there are certain priorities in my life.

Anyhoo, outside I go to find my car and move it to a closer parking space. I walk down to my Boomer (my car) and find a parking space close to the pool where I am currently lounging. As I'm leaving. In the car, I decide instead of driving around to the parking space as a proper person is suppose to do, I'm going to go in reverse.
"Why the heck not?" is my mental thought.
So reverse I go.

As I'm doing 45mph backwards, I manage to get my parking space, but there is a car waiting behind me. Now I didn't know if I had taken this person's parking space, but I wanted to apologize either way. Getting out of the car I walk to the person's car and "dear almight lord" is what I encounter.

Eye candy, hubba hubba what is your name. *slaps own hand* I am a very taken woman, but my what lovely eye candy you are.

I apologize profusely for the driving and if I had taken his parking space, but I really thought he wasn’t there. He states he was wondering what in the world I was doing. Then realized when I got into the parking space. So very calmly he asked me what I was doing and I told him I was an erotic romance writer and just working on my manuscript. Need lots of stimulation.

Yeah bad thing to say. Lol.

He asked if he could have my website so as to see my books and I replied of course.

In my head though I replied Breathe!! Damnit!! Breathe!!! Don't shake, and don't act like a dork!!.

When he got out of the car, I had to hold my breath. Apparently working out in a gym with a skin rippling shirt is the dress code for military men working out. Now this shirt and what its purpose was on his body is still unknown to me, but the thoughts running through my head were hysterical...well at least to me. The instant I saw him DEAR ALMIGHTY!! Don't react, don't react! Jeez, look at those muscles!!! Think of something else, don't think of him like that, or your heart is racing a million miles an hour. You love your man, you love your man, and he has just the same body type as him. Two weeks you’ll be gone only two weeks. Jesus if your there, I would love some intervention! Somebody wanna send some backup!! Uhm...2 times 2 is 4, 4 times 4 is 16, and uh..what was I thinking???! I mean...uhm go to a safe place. Nice, happy, rippling, thoughts...DOH!! NO!!! Think of Paul, think of your man!!!!

Well these thoughts continued throughout the brief talking session. And let me tell you, I've never had to put so much energy into just thinking straight. I found myself wondering little things about how there is such a thing as cruel and unusual punishment.

Now I understand why there is an 8th Amendment to the Bill of Rights.

Even though this little display was before me, and I was probably not breathing (in my mind), what made it worse is that the hormones in a woman’s body can mess with her head.

*walks up to a stage*

Now ladies,*turning to the studio audience* any ladies...hell this can apply to guys too. But lets say you have a stunning specimen of being. Now this being is not only physically attractive, but possesses brains, kindness and other traits that only adds the cherry to the frosting. Don't you think that just messes with your head? If it doesn't to you, I just have to wonder.

WHAT IS UP WITH YOU!!!??HELLO! IS THIS THING ON!!?? Sorry.

So onwards with the story, I drop continue my work and I am stopped yet again by another very FINE looking man. Sweet kind, the stuff that hero’s in my books are made out of. Grrrlicious. This beautiful man was called Michael. As Michael and I are talking he sees my work and says “So you’re the writers that make us men thank god for your books.” I smiled and said “Well that depends on what you buy your wife or girlfriend.” And this man says “Well I was hoping to test it on someone.”

Guess what I'm thinking? C'mon guess?

Yes. I'm thinking the same thoughts as earlier but funnier. I'm thinking Am I being tormented for something? Both handsome guys in one day? I can't take this type of torture! I'm only human for Pete's sake! There's only so much a mortal woman can take before she absolutely loses it!

Well Mike and I talked for a little bit, and then he leaves to go eat with some of his friends. As he left, I just turned to my friend Marie, and made her die laughing.

"Well Marie, after the day I have had today, I'm not surprised I have to take a very cold shower." Marie just gave me a hug and shook her head laughing.

Do you think he's mocking me? Two weeks with this much hotness in my life and no outlet. No toys…no….*crying pitifully*

Crap.

So that was my day. I had two beautiful men, in every sense of the word, in my company for a small time. Not only did I hold myself back from any comments but I think I centered all my chakras.

Let me tell you, restraint is an evil word.

Happy Seductive Sunday!!

I hope everyone is having a Seductive Sunday. I know Friday and Saturday were Frisky and Satisfied, for me that is, hehehehhe.

Yeppers, my Birthday was on Saturday. Oooo yay me *snort*. The older I get the more I could give two craps about the birthday. Where did those days go, that were filled with presents, and money, and cake? Now it’s - what I get a day alone? Here’s five bucks go buy me something, and damn just looking at that cake put ten pounds on the hips. *Sigh*

Don’t get me wrong, I had a wonderful Birthday. My mom took my son, my man treated me to my favorite foods, and wine, and *cough* that’s all you get *Grins*.
And I gave two lucky winners a copy of A Slave's Way Out, and two copies of my erotic short story A Night to Remember as part of my birthday celebration at the MSA chat, hosted by REC on Friday.

I bought myself a DVD player, yep, it’s for me, it’s in my room, and it’s mine, LOL.
I also finished the last set of edits on my book coming out in July with Whiskey Creek Press Torrid. Now it’s off to the senior editor and hopping to the internet as the summer hits its peak.

Oh yeah, and Memorial Day is Monday. Thank you all who fought for this country, both past and present! My Grandfather was a Vet of WWII, and my Uncle of Vietnam, and to the name I don’t know who fought in the civil war. I thank you one and all.

For all those Japanese Anime lovers out there…My son and I went to see the LIVE movie of Death Note, that only had two showings, an hour away from us. Let me say it was…sssaaahhhhwweeeeeetttt!! Can’t wait for part 2 in September!!

Here’s a little teaser for The Devil Himself, a Paranormal Romance…Coming July 2008 with WCPT

BLURB
Luca has lived a long and sheltered life. Dubbed by many as “The Jersey Devil”, he resides peacefully and alone in the Barren Woods, where no one can find him. It’s a lonely exsistence, but necessary for one such as he.

Until photographer Chandra Burke comes along. After saving her life, Luca feels obligated to keep her with him until she heals. But as hours with her turn to days, and then weeks, he finds he wants to keep her for an entirely different reason—for him.
Can Chandra and Luca overcome Luca’s view of himself, a pesky wizard, and a possessive demon to be together? Or will the Fates allow love to slip past Luca once again?

Ahhh yes, the questions I’ve been getting asked right along…I am working on a sequel for A Slave’s Way Out. I’m getting it written.
As my AWESOME editor Kate reminded me, Nora Roberts said. “You can’t edit a blank page.”
So do not fear oh lovers of A Slave’s Way Out, Trea and Daniel’s story is on the waaaayyyy.

The Teenager Comes Out......Screaming

Today's blog has nothing to do with books but music. The last year there have been a ton of changes and surprises going on with music. The biggest thing is reunions. All the old boy bands and girl groups are coming back to the scene after being away for a very long time. Boys bands and girl groups have been around for many years and some have lasted past the 12 year mark...One being the Backstreet Boys....Yes I said BSB...

Then

Now

They have been through tons of drama over the years that they have been around and even have gone down in number by the loss of one member when he left the group, but they are still kicking and doing their thing.

When it comes to reunions it started with one of the biggest girl groups..The Spice Girls. After they broke up they had gone to start families, have solo careers and do their own projects and then last year the big news came that they would be coming back for a reunion tour.

Then

Now

I will honestly say that it was weird and cool to see them back together. It brought back a ton of memories from when I was a teen and they were the biggest thing around.I know that I was not alone feeling that way. They had toured all over the world and many fans had the chance to see them together again one more time. For those of you who had the chance to go. You are very lucky...

The next big reunion was yes you guessed it. Step By Step...New Kids On The Block...In the 80's and early 90's they were one of the biggest boy bands around...Before Backstreet Boys hit the scene. As soon as the news came out that NKOTB were getting back together I can't tell you how many people had posted bloggs about being excited about it..All the fans that had grown up listening to them and going to shows, screaming their heart out were now grown up with their own family. But as soon as they hear that the guys were returning the screaming teenager came right back out of sleep.

Then

Now

When I was younger I was never really a big fan of the New Kids. Their music was OK but I wasn't one of those hard fans. It's great to see that they are back and trying to do the whole music thing once again. Many fans around the world are thrilled to be able to see them in concert.

If you are wondering which boy band I was ga ga over I will tell you. I was a HUGE Backstreet Boys fan, still am..I saw them in concert for the very first time in 1996, I stood out in the freezing cold and rain in January weather to see them live. In case you are wondering, it was so worth it. Since then I had seen them every single time they were in town. It has been a while since that happened since they haven't been on tour in a few years. If you are wondering why I was a huge fan and did all the shows. I will say that it was fun, seeing your favourite performer live is exciting. You scream your buns off till you loose your voice and get to dance and have a great time. Plus when you get to meet your fave group it's even better. I was lucky to meet BSB over the years at shows and events and it was great to say hello.

I hear that the next two groups that will be coming back on the music scene will be Aqua..You may remember them with their hit Barbie Girl

I have a feeling things are only starting to get interesting in the music industry. So now I want to ask you guys. Who was the band, group and celeb that you went crazy for and what was the craziest thing you ever did to get near them?

Stay naughty

Summer is about to begin.

Today is my daughter’s last day of school and tonight is her first sleepover of the summer. Yes, it’s already begun. Gone are my days of freedom. My summer is sure to consist of a house full of kids or running her around town. Monday we are going to the mall and next Wednesday I’m the chauffeur on a trip to the movies. I haven’t been given further instruction—yet!

I suppose my writing time is cut to mornings, at almost 14, she’ll sleep until noon unless I wake her. I’ll get an hour here or there when she’s busy. I’ll also have the days she spends at someone else’s house. I’m not really complaining though because before I know it she’ll be off to college and I’ll be home alone all the time.

However, my writing and chatting time will diminish for the summer. So, if you don’t see me around as much, you’ll know why.

Hope everyone enjoys their summer!

Update on Tess!

I'm afraid I don't have any mischief to make today. I used it all up over at the Sensual Secrets blog. http://sensualnsecret.blogspot.com lol

blog button

But I do want to share my new cover with you. As most of you know, my publisher for my Gabriel's Ride Series went out of business due to health reasons. So as soon as I received my rights reversion letter I sent the series to Freya's Bower. http://freyasbower.com Here's the new cover.

Photobucket

Managing Editor Faith Bicknell-Brown loved the series and so Gabe has a new home. I just finished revisions on the first two stories and now I'm working on another story, completely different from Gabe.

Oh and by the way--Faith is a fantastic editor and writer too. She has three books out on How to Avoid Writer's Hell available now at Freya's Bower. Make sure you check them out and while you're at it, join her yahoo group by the same name. Lots of help is available to you there. Tell her Tess sent you! Here's the join addy.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Avoid_Writers_Hell

In the meantime I just signed a new contract with Whiskey Creek Torrid for a scorching hot, highly romantic contemporary cowboy story. I'm definitely looking forward to the cover art for that one! My hero is oh so yummy!

Here's a sneak peak at the blurb for His Sweet Obsession:

Have you ever loved someone so much you’d wait your entire life for them just to discover love may not be enough? Jack and Addy belong together, but their past haunts them. Will their sweet obsession be enough to sustain them or will it tear them further apart?
Coming back to Texas was the last thing on Addy’s mind, but with the death of her Aunt Maggie who raised her, that’s exactly where she finds herself-- back under the scorching Texas sun and thanks to Maggie’s last will and testament, tied to the very place she ran from years ago.
Jack has lived and worked on the Double Eagle Ranch all his life. It means everything to him with the exception of Addy. Years ago he hurt her and she left because of it, but now she’s back and he wonders if God has given them a second chance.

Now doesn't that sound incredibly romantic? Trust me it is. And the sex ain't none too shabby either! lol

I also just found out that one of my erotic poems will be published in February by Muse Mongers Publishing. The collection of poems will be available in print and e book as well. I'll be sure to let everyone know when that comes around. In the meantime, if you'd like information on Muse Mongers Publishing, visit the Muse Mongers Motel message board at http://musemongersmotel.yuku.com

Tomorrow Paige Tyler will give us another hunk to drool over. Can't wait for Tuesdays to roll in each week, can you? Till next time...

Blowing Kisses,
Tess

Reading & Writing...What happens when you have Dyslexia & Dysgraphia?

Words are an author’s tool. We’re supposed to wield them with absolute precision, as any professional in their field would.

What happens when an author spells something wrong?

What happens when the wrong punctuation is used?

What happens if no one knows that the author could have a learning disability?

What happens when a person with a reading or learning disability loves to do one thing…write. Even though that person hated English class and everything about it.

What if that person only knows what a verb is…is because it’s an action? Remember those commercials on TV? VERB it’s an action.

What if that person has no idea what a run on sentence is?

And no matter how many times, someone can explain it to them, they have to write it down in order to remember it.

It’s frustrating and embarrassing, because they know, their words are not coming out correctly.

And even though it’s wanted, it’s hard to join in on online chats with others, for fear that, they may spell a word wrong, or more than one word wrong.
What if people look at them differently because they spelled a word or words wrong?
What if they do join in, they don’t talk much, maybe a one or two word reply to most posts, and maybe smiley faces.

How many authors out there have ever thought about this?

How many authors have a reading or learning disability?

How many authors have family with a reading or learning disability?

Some of you may know, by reading my bio, that I tutor children and adults with Dyslexia. I am one of eight certified tutors for this program in the state of Florida.

Dyslexia is a reading disability that can be mild to profound and severe. Dyslexia is often accompanied with other disabilities, such as SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), Dyscalculia (Math’s dyslexia), Dysgraphia (Writing), and ADD, or ADHD. The list can go on, and on.

Dyslexia is genetic and can pass from one generation to the next. One brother may have ADHD, the other may have Dyslexia.

Dyslexia is in my family, and while I have never been tested…well…my thoughts and feelings are written above. I'm just grateful that I found this program.

To learn more about Dyslexia and the program I tutor, you can go to:

When is much just too much?

Blogging....Web journals...Vlogs....

Whatever you want to call it....It is something that's out there and more and more people are posting..

I have not been blogging for long, only a little over two years. Honestly I didn't know what a blog was until a few years ago. Now I try to do it on a regular basis..I don't blog daily but I try to make sure to post during the week.

I wonder how long have you been blogging for?

Since I have started to blogg and found my way around to other blogger pages I have read some pretty interesting things and some just shocking...To shock me takes a lot so you can imagine...

It made me think, how much is too much information when posting on a blog?

Are there some things that should just not be posted when you post stuff on the web or do you think it's open to everything since it is the Internet?

I love reading the different bloggs that my fellow authors post and book lovers post...Each blog is filled with interesting bits of info and sometimes a glimpse into the writers life..

I wanted to ask you, why do you blog? What draws you to reading other blogs?

What do you think about bloggs, vlogs, journals all together?

Websites

What do you look for in a website? Yesterday, I did a bit of website hopping. I was just looking to see what was out there. Without naming names, I have to admit there are some spectacular websites out there. The backgrounds and graphics on some of them are amazing.

However, while scanning the sites I found a few that while beautiful on the surface were impossible to navigate. On some sites, I couldn’t find backlists of books or a coming soon section. While visually perfect they were lacking on information or at least easily found information.

Compared to most, my website is quiet basic because I do it myself. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I’m far from a technical whiz but I do my own website to keep it up to date. In the e-book market, there is always something new. New releases, new contracts, new reviews and such happen weekly and sometimes daily. I like to keep my site up to date on a daily/weekly basis therefore I handle it myself. Unfortunately that means while it is up to date on info some my find it visually lacking.

Now, I wonder what is more important. Readers and writers, what do you find more appealing on a website. Do you go to a site to be awed or to find current information? Or both?

My website

Have a wonderful weekend.

New Erotic Blog

Well if it's Monday you know who is here. Tess. lol Last week my fabulous author friend A J Llewellyn guest blogged for me. He writes the funniest things. But he also writes things from the heart. He's just a fantastic blogger.

I consider myself to usually be a good blogger, but lately I've been too busy to put a lot of thought into it. And I'm hoping as my schedule and life slow down a bit that I'll be able to get back into the swing of things.

Right now though I am working on a new blog. The time to launch came a bit quicker than I was ready for I must admit. Lately I always seem to end up doing things at the last minute.

Anyway, another author friend of mine, Jade Twilight, and I are launching a new erotic blog today. We ran a contest for someone to Name That Blog and did award the prize for the entrant who came up with the best choice of names. However, we reserved the right to use or not use the name or just maybe part of the name. And that's what we did. Just used part of the name.

So what is it? SENSUAL SECRETS...unveiling hidden desires. The winner of our contest was Jambrea who is a member of our Midnight Seductions Yahoo Group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MidnightSeductions Everyone knows Jambrea. lol Her winning entry was Sensual Playground. Great entry!

sensual secrets.2

For the first week of this new blog we are going to be talking about sexual fantasies. We posted around and asked people to send us their fantasies and guess what? We got a really nice response. So don't forget to check us out. You might be wondering if you're having some of the same fantasies.

Jade will be posting the introductory post today and you'll here about it as soon as it's up and ready as we will both be promoting to groups. But trust me...this blog is not going to be for the faint of heart. We've already asked what individuals would like to see in a blog and we've been told that there are basically no holds barred.

So make sure you stop in daily and read all about fantasies. Oh and Jade and I will both be revealing one or two of our own fantasies as well. Hmmmm....kinky. lol

Here's the address: http://sensualnsecret.blogspot.com

Don't forget tomorrow is Tasty Tuesday here at the Nice n' Naughty Blog and our Paige will be brining you some really hot hot hunks. Can't wait to see what she has for us.

Tess

Local Waldenbooks, rubbing me the wrong way.

As Homer Simpson once said, “It really grinds my gears when…”

Some of you may remember the issue I had with my local Waldenbooks, about them taking all erotica and spicy books down from their shelves during the holidays. Which means no author sold any books in this part of Florida during the busiest shopping days of the year.

WELL…

I visited them this past week and found that YES, they did put the spicy and erotica books back up. From publishers such as, Ellora’s Cave & Aprodisia.
But what I wasn’t too happy about was the lack of respect these authors are being given in this store.

All other sections of the store, children’s, cooking, sensual romance, they’re all put together nicely, in alphabetical order by author, all books of the same author together.

But yet…but yet…

All spicy and erotica reads are dumped on one small back end cap facing the wall. Some facing up, some sideways, up side down, you name it. And it’s not that someone just happened by, made a mess of the section and walked off. You can tell this section is being totally disregarded in all matters.

How professional is this store? Is it just the manager and people within who have a “problem” with hot, sexy, erotic, and spicy works of literature?

I worked in a book store (go figure, love of reading and everything) and I think that’s what pisses me off the most. Is that these owners / workers don’t treat every area of their store the same.

If you’re going to have a book store and accept these types of works into your store, then they need to be treated with the same respect you give the other works in your store.

Am I making a mountain out of a mole hill?

How does your local Waldenbooks treat their section of erotica and spicy reads?

Do you think the companies like Ellora’s Cave and Aprodisia would be happy knowing this is how their merchandise and authors are being treated?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.

The Magic Spell is now in Print!

I'm thrilled to announce that my bestselling paranormal spanking romance The Magic Spell is now available in print! I've included a synopsis and a sexy, little excerpt from the story to tease you. If you like it, check out the link below where you can find more information on this story and others like it!

Synopsis:

Alanna Simms has been having a problem finding Mr. Right. But when she and her friends stumble across a charm shop just in time for Halloween, her friends think they have found the solution to her problem. When the mysterious proprietor overhears Alanna complaining about how hard it is to find a good man, the woman gives her a potion that she claims will give Alanna her heart’s desire.Of course, Alanna doesn’t believe in magic, but at the urging of her friends, goes along with the whole thing anyway.

But Alanna is unprepared when she finds a stranger dressed as a pirate passed out on her living room floor hours after doing the magic spell. Thinking that he’s just a hunk that she must have missed at the costume party they had, she is shocked to discover that he is actually the seventeenth-century pirate she jokingly asked for when invoking the spell.

Considering how gorgeous he is, that wouldn’t be half bad, if it weren’t for two very annoying problems. One, they can’t get more than twenty feet apart from each other. And two, the sexy pirate seems to think he can put her over his knee and spank her any time he wants to.

How can this arrogant jerk possibly be her heart’s desire? Alanna wonders. That woman at the charm shop must have made a terrible mistake because Garren Dandridge couldn’t be the right man for her. Could he?

Excerpt:

Stifling a yawn, Alanna was just reaching behind her to undo the zipper on her gown when she heard a loud thud out in the living room. Startled, she froze, listening, but everything was quiet.

Chewing on her lower lip, she stared at her bedroom door, wondering if she should investigate. But knowing she would never be able to sleep if she didn’t, she opened the door and cautiously looked out.

Though she had a clear view of the living room from where she was standing, she couldn’t see much in the dark. Which meant that she would have to go out there, she realized. Taking a deep breath, she slowly tiptoed into the living room.

Running her hand along the wall, she found the switch and flipped it on, only to stop in her tracks when light illuminated the room. There, sprawled in the middle of her living room floor was a man dressed in a pirate costume.

Why hadn’t he left with all the other guests? she wondered. He must have been in the bathroom, she thought. But that still didn’t explain why he was lying on her living room floor. Oh God, the drunk had passed out, she thought. Well, that wasn’t her problem. He sure as heck wasn’t staying on her living room floor all night.

With a sigh, Alanna walked over to where the man lay, only to blink in surprise as she gazed down at him. Even lying down she could tell that he was tall, not to mention well-built. And absolutely gorgeous, she thought, taking in his dark hair, sensuous mouth, and angular jaw with its day’s worth of stubble. How could she possibly have missed a hottie like him at the party? she wondered.

Alanna continued to gaze down at him for a moment, taking in the muscular expanse of chest visible beneath his half-open shirt before moving on to the breeches and supple leather boots he was wearing. They looked expensive, she thought. Then again, so did the musket pistol and sword on his hip. Even safely tucked into the scabbard, it looked like the real thing.

Alanna let out another sigh. Regardless of how gorgeous he was, he had to go. Using the tip of her shoe, she gently nudged him in the side with her foot. When he didn’t move, she nudged him again, a little harder this time. But still, he didn’t stir.

Her brow furrowed suddenly as a horrifying thought occurred to her. Oh God, she hoped that the guy had only passed out.

Chewing on her lower lip, Alanna knelt down beside the man. Leaning forward, she turned her head so that her ear was right above his mouth, and then sighed with relief when she felt his warm breath against her skin.

Okay, so he wasn’t dead, she thought. That was a relief. She leaned closer to his face and noticed that he didn’t smell like he’d been drinking at all. That was strange, considering he was passed out on her floor. Her brow furrowing, she put her hand on his shoulder to nudge him when his eyes flew open.

For a moment, Alanna just knelt there, lost in those incredibly golden brown eyes of his. God, they were sexy, she thought.

He studied her in silence, then his eyes widened and he was scrambling away from her. Quicker than she would have thought possible, he was on his feet, his hand on the hilt of his sword as he looked around wildly.

“Where am I?” he demanded, his eyes narrowing as they came to rest on her. “What have you done to me, witch?”

For a moment, Alanna just stared at him in confusion. What the heck did he mean, where was he? Was he really that drunk, or just stupid? But watching as his eyes darted around the room, she decided that he must be drunk. He was looking at her apartment as if he’d never seen it before. Her mouth tightened. That was all she needed at this time of night, a guy so drunk that he couldn’t even remember coming to the party. How the heck was she going to get him out of there if he was that ripped? Slowly getting to her feet, she stood facing him, hands on her hips.

“Okay, I’m not sure why you didn’t leave with everyone else, but the party’s over,” she said. “So, you need to get your drunken butt out of here. I have to go to work in the morning.”

His brows drew together as he leveled that incredible gold gaze at her. “I will leave when you tell me what you have done to me, witch!” he growled. “Where am I, and how did I get here? Answer me, witch! What evil scheme have I fallen into?”

Alanna frowned. The guy certainly didn’t sound like he’d been drinking. He just sounded weird. Why was he still putting on that fake accent anyway? Like something out of an old pirate movie, she was sure it had been a hit during the party, but now, it just sounded ridiculous.

But the guy insisted on still playing the pirate, and when she failed to answer his outlandish questions immediately, he took what he probably thought was a menacing step toward her. If he thought she was going to be intimidated by his size or his make-believe glower, however, then he didn’t know her at all. She was in no mood to play games. She was exhausted and wanted to go to bed.

“Look,” she said, taking a step closer and lifting her chin to glare up at him. “I’m sure the accent and the pirate lingo were a big hit with the girls at the party, but at this time of night, it just makes you sound stupid. Now get out before I call the cops.”

His eyes narrowed, taking in her curve-hugging gown and long, black hair with a sweep of his gaze. He made no move to go, however. Annoyed, Alanna began to gesture with her hands in a shooing motion toward the door.

“Go on, get out of here!” she told him.
The man stepped back quickly, his hand going to the hilt of his sword. “Trying to put another spell on me, are you, witch?” he said. “Well, you won’t catch me so unaware this time, I can promise you!”

Alanna shook her head. What a complete dumbass! she thought. Okay, so obviously he wasn’t drunk. But he must be high on something, she decided, because no one in their right mind would act like such a complete moron.

“Okay,” she said smartly. “You want a spell? Try this one then, C-O-P-”

She had this really cute line all ready about calling the cops, but apparently he wasn’t amused because he never let her get the words out. Quickly closed the distance between them, he pulled her close and swiftly brought a hand up to cover her mouth.

Alanna’s eyes went wide, her pulse skipping a beat. Oh crap, she thought. Could she have misread the whole situation? What if this guy were dangerous?

“I will not let you, or Morania, or any other witch bespell me again, is that understood?” he said softly.

For a moment, Alanna could only stare up at him, her heart pounding. Yes, she had definitely misread the situation. This guy wasn’t drunk or high. He was nuts!

He studied her for a moment, his golden eyes seeming to penetrate her blue ones. When she didn’t make a move to resist, he began to relax his hold on her. That was all the incentive she needed. Wishing she had finished those self-defense classes she’d started, she did the only thing she could think of. She jerked away from him and slapped him across the face as hard as she could.

Alanna had hoped to startle him enough so she could make a run for the bedroom. Once there, she could lock the door and call the cops.

Unfortunately, her blow didn’t have the desired effect. Actually, it had no effect at all. The man only blinked, probably more stunned that she’d had the audacity to slap him than from the actual slap itself. Jaw tight, he reached for his phony pirate sword and started to pull it from its scabbard.

What the heck was he doing? Alanna thought, taking a nervous step back. But then she froze in place, her eyes going wide as the light glinted off the blade. Oh God, she thought. It wasn’t a phony sword; it was real! For the first time, she had the inkling that she might be in real trouble.

But swearing under his breath, the man slammed the sword back home. “You might be a witch, but I have never drawn a blade on a woman, even one who has just struck me, and I am not about to start now,” he said, his golden brown eyes narrowing. “Nevertheless, you will tell me what I want to know!”

Before Alanna could even wonder what he meant by that, the man reached out and grabbed her by the arm. His grip like iron, he began to drag her across the room to the couch.

“Let go of me, you...” she began, only to let out a startled little “Oh!” of surprise when he sat down on the couch and yanked her over his knee.

For a moment, Alanna was so shocked that she couldn’t do more than lay there. She regained her senses quickly, however. Bracing her hands on his well-muscled thigh, she tried to push herself upright, but a strong hand on her back held her firmly in place.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” she demanded, craning her neck to look at him over her shoulder. “Let me up, you...Owwwww!”

Alanna’s eyes went wide as she felt his hand come down on her upturned bottom. He was spanking her! Just what the heck was going on here? First, he had grabbed her, then he had threatened her with his sword, and now, he was spanking her. Who the hell did he think he was, manhandling her like this? Crazy jerk! Too angry to even be the least bit scared of the guy now, she struggled to free herself.

“How dare you!” she cried, beating her fist against his leg as hard has she could. “Let me go right now!”

My Old Sweetheart

Hi everyone,

My lovely friend Tess MacKall invited me to blog today as her special guest. It's my birthday, so please permit me to post something a little...bittersweet.
I want to tell you about my old sweetheart. I loved her. I fell in love the second I met her. She lived in Pasadena, California and was a little hard to find at first, but once I discovered her, I spent hours and hours and hours enjoying her.
I knew all her hidden secrets. All the little things that made her special.
Each time I visited her, I was seduced anew.
I confess, I haven't been as faithful to her as I should have been.
Cheated on her online.
Discovered a few other, newer, younger sweethearts.
But last week, I went to visit her and imagine my shock to find that she was gone.
Her name was The Oriental Bookstore. And she is gone.
For a moment, when I stood on Colorado Street and stared at what should have been, I thought I'd made a mistake, that I'd forgotten where she stood.
When the truth hit my brain, I was disoriented. Then I actually felt physically ill. What was once this lovely, messy treasure chest was now a Panda Express. Anger bubbled to the surface. I thought it was some cruel, cosmic joke. Like we need more junk food in this world?
I called my BFF and reported the death of my old sweetheart, which was also his. Turns out she bit the dust last year. We both raised a glass in her honor last night, remembering how we hid books in shelves and came back to always find them, sometimes months later.
The owner of The Oriental Bookstore was the crankiest old man you ever met. His name was Frank and the first time I went looking for the shop, I called him and he gave me bad directions. I swear, this man did not want to sell his books. He wanted to sit in peace watching his two TVs and languishing in years of dust.
But oh, once you found him and that store, it was mythic in its trove of literary treasures. From Egypt to Hawaii and realms in between, there wasn't a book you couldn't find.
He had a handwritten sign saying; No Children,No credit cards, No spitting and a host of other bizarre things. My favorite perhaps was: No discounts! Ask and you'll pay double!
Most of my Hawaiian treasures come from his store. He was mean, rude, grouchy and very, very weird. He opened the store when he felt like it, mostly to escape his wife, he told me.
He bought giant boxes from estate sales and seemed to dump books in random piles everywhere. Yet, each time I walked down the never-cleaned linoleum floor to the dimly lit Hawaiian section in the very back, I found something I just had to have.
There were books on Polynesia, all the islands...all the stories. From ancient texts to Thor Heyerdahl, he had it all. Every single thing you could ever imagine you would want to know about the South Seas and beyond.
I took a female friend there for her first visit and she asked Frank if he had a book called Tropical Asian Style. He shocked us both by saying, "Yes." And he even knew exactly where it was.
I am told he was muscled out of his location by developers and I wonder where he hides from his other half these days. I am also told by a reliable source that his books were bought by a couple of sellers who also, like me, love books.
No other store will ever have the wealth of information The Oriental Bookstore had.
My Old Sweetheart, alas, an unwanted dying breed, still has me in thrall.
I read today that bowling alleys, like book stores are disappearing from view. My wish today is that this is just a horrible dream.
If I could go back, wind back that clock for just a few minutes, I would walk into that store and thank Mr. Crankypants for allowing a lit-lovin' erotic romance author the chance to dream. And to explore. And to buy all those wonderful books.

Aloha oe,

Warrior of the Past releases today!

Warrior of the Past
L.A. Day
Warrior of the Past will release from Ellora's Cave today!

This is the sequel to The Last Warrior but is a stand alone novel.
Below is a naughty excerpt from the book.

Blurb:
Holly’s ex-husband is stalking her. Out of nowhere on a stormy night, help arrives in the form of a powerful, primitively beautiful Native American who tosses her ex-husband off her property. Is Bear her knight in shining armor? Or, in this case, her warrior in scanty breechclout? Can this pinup guy actually be a man she can trust?

Pulled through time, Bear joins the other Yahi warrior, Lone Wolf, who came before him—his only link to the past, his only guide to the future.

The Great Spirit has a mission for these warriors and he’s not above a little matchmaking when he drops Bear in Holly’s yard. Patience is bred into a Yahi warrior and Bear will need it to claim his woman…especially when she discovers his secret.

Adult excerpt:
She couldn’t take it any longer. Fanning her body with her gown, she crossed to the window. From the corner of her eye, she saw movement that drew her gaze. The full moon lit up Bear’s silhouette. Obviously, the sounds of the frantic coupling disturbed him too.

His hair was unbraided and reached midway down his back. Reaching up, he ran both hands through the unbound length. She couldn’t hear him but she could tell by the movement of his chest muscles and rippling abs that he was taking deep breaths.

Even though Grey had loaned him clothes, she’d noticed, when alone at night, he donned his clout.

Holly nibbled her lip. She really shouldn’t watch him. He thought he was alone.

One large hand skimmed his chest then slowly caressed his abs. He slid his hand to the side and loosened the tie of his clout.

“Oh my god!” she silently mouthed.

The clout fluttered to the patio floor, revealing a prominent erection. She swallowed deeply. “Damn!” she whispered. She’d never seen such masculine perfection. Bear was a big, muscled man and his cock was in proportion to the rest of him.

Peeking around the curtain, Holly watched as his hand engulfed his cock. Loosely gripping his cock, his fingers stroked up and down. His other hand alternated between rubbing his lower abs and cupping his balls.

Holly swallowed deeply. Her mouth was suddenly dry. Biting her lip, she leaned her forehead against the coolness of the windowpane but it didn’t cool her blood.

A low moan escaped her lips as her empty pussy ached with need. She had never watched a man masturbate. She’d never wanted to, but watching Bear stirred feelings that had lain long dormant.

Licking her lips, she wished she were brave enough to go to him. Lost in the erotic rhythm of his show, she pictured herself on her knees at his feet.

Her hand ran across her cotton-covered stomach to her breast. She cupped herself and felt the swollen peak. In her mind, it was Bear’s hand on her breast and she stroked his massive cock. She knew he’d be hard and warm. She wondered what he’d sound like when he came. Would he call out or would he just moan?

Review:
5 hearts!
"Anne Rainey has penned a well-written sensual story, with great believable characters. Gideon was such a great hero, he was a strong, sexy, gorgeous, somewhat domineering man with a big secret. Lori was sweet, shy and insecure on the sensual side. The passion between Gideon and Lori burns up the pages and kept me reading to the very last sentence. I would highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a spicy read."—Sandra, The Romance Studio

Gideon aches to open Lori up to the enticing world of sexual pleasures, but what will she do when she learns that he's been tuned into her every thought?

Please enjoy this excerpt of The Emeror: Secrets Bared
by Anne Rainey

Lori had no idea what she was doing. She was way out of her element. These people were in a different league. They were classy, sophisticated. She was plain and boring.Painfully normal. She’d only agreed to come because her art-teaching friend, Margaret, had talked her into it. Of course, Margaret had abandoned her the instant they’d arrived.Damn her. Someone had grabbed and flitted her away. How was she supposed to find the blasted woman in such a large crowd? It was wall-to-wall bodies. She only wanted to go home.

These people lived a different life. She enjoyed Margaret's company, but this yuppie world was not Lori’s style. In the back of her mind, she knew the real reason she’d come tonight, and it hadn’t been because of Margaret. Now she wanted to forget the stupid idea and go home where things were normal.Unfortunately, Margaret had driven, which left Lori somewhat stranded. She was forced to talk to people she didn't know, smile when she didn't feel like smiling, and drink champagne, which she now knew tasted horrible. If she ever drank alcohol, it wasto tip back a cold, light beer on a hot summer evening. She’d never tasted champagne before tonight. Apparently, she hadn't been missing a damn thing.

In her search for Margaret, she ended up telling yet another oversexed man, thanks but no thanks. When she turned to go to the bathroom as a means of escape—and call her sister, Tabby—Lori saw the most gorgeous man she’d ever seen. And the biggest. In fact, he was a little scary—0ver six foot six easy, with shoulders a linebacker only dreamed of and hair the color of night. The closer he got, the more she could see he had chiseled features that would rival a Greek God. He was completely underdressed in a pair of black slacks and a simple white T-shirt that showed off his muscles to perfection. His shiny black hair was entirely too long for today’s standards, falling just below his shoulders. He looked like a disreputable pirate. Oh yeah, definitely a hottie. At the same time Lori thought the word, his brow arched up in inquiry, as if he could read her mind. As if he knew she was thinking about him.

“Oh great, terrific impression,” she mumbled under her breath. Lori breathed deeply, resisted the urge to run and hide, then stood up straighter as he approached. Slouching added pounds, and she definitely didn’t wish for more of those.

He reached his hand out to her and spoke."My name is Gideon Adrian and you are?"

Have mercy. His voice should have been bottled to preserve its flawlessness. She could listen to him talk for hours. Lori wondered what he sounded like during sex. She'd bet her bottom dollar, he could make a woman climax just by whispering in her ear. Then she realized she was clinging to his hand. Damn it. She made a valiant effort to give it back to him, but he appeared to be in no hurry. Instead, she answered his question and opted to leave her hand right where it was.

“I’m Lori Fontaine. It's very nice to meet you, Mr. Adrian.”

Then it hit her. Gideon Adrian was the world-renowned sculptor. The party was in his honor. She had seen his work. She couldn't actually afford it, but she’d seen it. Lori was dutifully impressed.

He sculpted couples. In particular, erotic poses of men and women wrapped up in each other, embracing, making love. He was a wild sensation in the art world.Lori looked pointedly down at their hands, then back up at him. He didn't seem to get the message because he still held her firmly. The gorgeous hunk stared into her eyes as if he could see into her very soul. Tingles ran up and down her spine.

To break the silence, Lori decided to let him know what she thought of his romance-inspiring sculptures. "You are a very impressive artist, Mr. Adrian. It's an honor to meetyou."

He stared another second, then said, "Call me Gideon.”
