Creative Criticisms and a Book Review

Yes, I have my first review for A Warrior's Longing!! Yes I am thrilled even though I received 3.5 stars. Why you ask...

Simply. If someone does not review or give creative feedback then how do I know what I need to do to improve myself as a writer.

I don't belong to a critic group, due to the closest one on over an hour away. I'm sure I can find one online, but with the way I've been working the day job lately, well I've lost contact with the awesome writers I used to chat with on a daily basis through Yahoo, and I'm lucky if I have a day a week to give toward my writing.
Hmmm...that doesn't sound right now does it?? I guess that's for another blog to sort out.

Soooo, back to the point at hand.

A Warriors Longing is definitely steamy. The chemistry between Lord Gage and Meiken is strong enough to raise anyone’s blood pressure. C.A. Salo did an excellent job blending the sci-fi, romance and erotica genres. Not everyone can do it so seamlessly. However, while the overall plot is solid, some scene transitions seem rough, almost rushed. Some of the characters seem to be rushed in, while others seem to be rushed out, leaving loose ends that seem to be forgotten. I think with a little bit of character building and a little polish, the book could be much improved. Not that it’s horrible, by any means. It just seems rushed. Despite the rushed feeling of the book, it was a pleasant read, and I wouldn’t hesitate to read any of C.A. Salo’s other books.

Book Trailers

So, I've been working on a book trailer for a big release coming out in September 2012 with Whiskey Creek Press Torrid, and I have to say, what a FUN experience!!

I've watched my son for years play and make different ones and now realize why he enjoys tinkering with short videos and shows. Although I'm not sure if 'tinkering' would be the right word or if he'd appreciate me using that word. LOL.

I think I'm enjoying it so much because I love the type of artistry. When I had the time I tried my hand at book covers (nothing published or anything) but just a personal challenge to see how things worked and 'tinkering ' around. :-) I'm a very visual person and love when things come together cohesively.

So I just have to say...What fun!!! And now I want the New Photo Shop editing software that does *3-D* WOOT!! :-) But I was told I have to wait, bummer :-(
but tax time is just around the corner :-D *YAY*

I love snow! Probably not the best way to introduce myself since half of you probably think I’m crazy now, but I do. I love the white stuff, love to ski and sled and snowmobile and just look out at the world covered in white. Yes, that’s me in the snowmobile picture, but it’s from last year. No snow like that now.

Not that I’m complaining. It’s been nice to run outside in December and January and send the kids out to play every day, but I miss having a blanket of white outside my door. I live in the upper Midwest where we normally have plenty of snow all winter long, but not this year.

This year I might as well be living in Vegas, which just happens to be the setting for my release from Ellora’s Cave, Going All In.

I’m lucky enough to share an editor at Ellora’s Cave with the lovely and talented Paige Tyler, but we met on the beach in Florida where there was no threat of snow. Thanks for inviting me on the Naughty Author Chicks blog today Paige!

Happy News Years!!

Happy New Years everyone!!

I'm not sure if any of you did, but I 'did not' make any News Years resolutions.

I'm already on my set goal of losing weight, which I have lost over 20 lbs and 2 pant sizes. *YAY* I have another 20 - 25 lbs to go before I'll be at 'my' desired weight loss and pant size.

I have other goals in place, that have been taking affect for several months, so I figured, why make a 'resolution' when I've already set the boat to full steam ahead.

I'm looking forward to a better year than 2011 that's for sure, especially as 2011 went out with a head cold.

Here's hoping all of you who made resolutions 'stick' to them, and a better new year for everyone!!
